hat stands for science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine, and at DAPCEP that is our focus!
Through partnerships with eight Michigan universities, we place 4,000 youth in university environments on Saturdays during the school year and in camp format during the summer. These opportunities allow youth to learn advanced STEMM topics while simultaneously adapting an “I can go to college, because I’ve been to college” frame of mind.
Access to opportunities afforded by careers in STEMM increases the standard of living for our youth as they age; and through exposure, preparation and motivation, DAPCEP aids in efforts to increase representation among minorities in STEMM fields. This is of critical importance to not only bridge the socioeconomic and achievement gaps, but to increase innovation and global competitiveness through diverse perspectives that are truly representative of America. The heart of what we do is giving youth the tools and opportunities to have secure and successful futures.
