COMING FALL 2026

START

Program Overview

DAPCEP STEM & Trades Readiness Tracks (START) is a brand-new, 2-year curriculum for 11th and 12th grade students. In START, youth will complete a sequence of hands-on courses that move learning beyond the traditional classroom. Starting in the 11th grade, students will select one of six specialized tracks designed to evolve from foundational concepts to advanced, college/university undergraduate or certification-level applications. Tracks will focus on subjects including science, technology, engineering, mathematics, medicine, (STEMM) and skilled trades. START will provide deep, consistent exposure to high-demand fields, ensuring youth are fully informed and prepared to make confident choices about postsecondary education and careers. START participants will benefit from courses and experiences designed by DAPCEP in partnership with industry professionals, higher education faculty, and experienced educators. Curriculum modules will integrate inquiry-based learning, real-world problem solving, and emerging industry trends.

Track Highlights

Participants can select from the following specialized tracks: Biotechnology, Computational Thinking, Engineering Design, Algebraic Functions, Heart & Lungs, and Foundations & Safety.

Enrollment Timeline

Enrollment will open on August 17th for Fall 2026.

-ALUMNI STORY-

“As a participant in DAPCEP’s Saturday classes, I was introduced to engaging, hands-on STEM activities that nurtured my curiosity and showed me that science was a space where I could thrive. Those early experiences helped me develop problem-solving skills, confidence, and a genuine love for discovery. DAPCEP also emphasized the importance of representation in STEM, surrounding me with mentors and peers who looked like me and shared my passion for making a difference.” – Madison Fails, Research Assistant at the University of Michigan
